About the artist

Luke Jampin Booth 'Kurruwarl'

Luke Jampin Booth, also known as Kurruwarl, is a Warramungu man from Brunette Downs, northeast of Tennant Creek in the Barkly Tablelands, NT, and Yuggera man from southwest Brisbane.

Luke has been painting and considered an artist for several years, creating artworks and murals for childcare centres, schools and community organisations, Luke officially established himself as an artist showcasing his artworks in 2011 at the Hahndorf Academy Museum and Art Gallery, Adelaide South Australia, and has since shown in numerous exhibitions, such as the Hahndorf Heysen Art Festival and as an artist in residence at the Ancient Earth Indigenous Art Gallery.

Luke’s artwork has been used in Qantas Airways internal marketing collateral including Qantas employee awards certificates and award ceremony programs; and is the artwork featured on the Acknowledge of Country plaque at the Adelaide Airport.

Luke’s art has been commissioned by Indigenous Businesses Australia, the Intercontinental Hotel, Adelaide, various community-based organisations including early childhood education centres and school organisations. Luke’s creations are stories from the Warramungu peoples and the designs and stories that he inherited.
